Agile readiness assessments at Agile2010

Ive posted the images from the session "Look before you leap - Agile readiness assessments done right" at Agile2010.  The images are here http://tinyurl.com/26bwlzw.

Some of the images are blurry in my browser (IE), but if you Save As to your computer then you get more detail (not sure why).  If there are any images you need more detail on, let me know - I still have all the originals.

Gamifying Classroom Learning at LIT02!

LIT02

Lets congratulate Norhayati, her team and Taylors University for a learning rich and well organized Learning Innovation Talks (LIT) 02! THANK YOU!

Sadly it was a smaller crowd than during LIT 01 (30+ compared to 100+), but interestingly most participants lasted until the end. I think this was due to the fact that we had some awesome speakers around including Mimma and Norhayati from LIC (Learning Innovation Circle).

Personally, I learned a lot, had great fun, and met some interesting new educators with passion to innovate and share (Al-Hamdulilla!).

MY TALK

My self-assessment gives me a C++. This was the first time I gave a 45 minute talk about gamification or gamifying classroom learning, so I still got tremendous room for improvement in gaming it (LOL!). Overall, I really enjoyed the whole learning cycle, especially the researching and preparation part. Here are the slides for you to explore (please dont ignore the awesome URLs on most slides):

LEARNING NOTES

A Twitter hashtag #LIT02 was set up during the Learning Innovation Talks to encourage those who were using Twitter to share their tweets during the event (Forgot to announce it!!!). However, only 3 (awesome people) joined the sharing session using this Twitter hashtag (out of 30+ participants).

So,  if you are interested to recap or discover the most important learning insights I shared during the talks using Twitter, here they are (URLs are clickable):

LIT 03...WHERE AND WHEN?

Timing is important! This time around, most active LICers and even many lecturers from Taylors University were busy with everything from giving talks, mid-term exams, returning from India to being engrossed in correcting exams according to crazy deadlines.

So, next time I suppose we need to negotiate a LIT time were most can make it, and if agreed must stick to their agreement to participate and speak.

Also, since we are talking about INNOVATION TALKS, we need to innovate and explore new alternative frontiers in empowering it to happen. As such, we are considering that that the next LIT or LIT 03 will be fully online some time during APRIL 2013. This will empower us also to invite speakers and have participants from any corner of the world. Better yet, it will be totally free to attend (except for our time), if I get my way.

So, LIT 03 will be organized by IMU and will be fully online (April 2013). Can it go wrong? Of course! But if you dont try to innovate (before making an opinion), you might as well be a chicken!

What do you think?

Becoming Creative Super Learners at IMU!

TALK SHOW

Imagine if you could read a 200-page book in 20 minutes? In today’s information overloaded disruptive world driven increasingly by innovation, we are required more than ever to transform the way we learn and think in terms of speed and creativity.

In this talk to IMU students (and anyone else interested), I will be exploring some of the things that we can do to stimulate and empower our brains and senses to be more focused, learn faster, and think more creatively.

I will also be introducing a learning facilitation method called Talk Show (New? Maybe, not sure!), which can make the learning process for especially large audiences more exciting and fun. This session wont be recorded, as this is the first time I am testing it out, and it might influence the students willingness to participate. Excited! More will be revealed in the coming days :)

PRESENTATION SLIDES

Here we go:

Becoming Creative Super Learners at IMU! from Zaid Alsagoff

This presentation only covers Level 1 of what a Creative Super Learner needs to master. Level 2 mastery skills are revealed here...

Please, remember that these Creative Super Learning skills are chunked based on how I am planning to develop the program over the next months, and not based on difficulty level (e.g. Blooms taxonomy) :)

Exploring OER MOOCs The Future of Learning at UUM!

Looking forward to facilitate a 1-day OER and MOOC workshop at Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) on the 25th March, 2013. It will be interesting to see how many that actually turn up. I do hope Insya-Allah for a full-house, because this time around I will start by exploring 16 Learning Trends, We Simply CANT Ignore! (for 30 - 45 minutes), before zooming in on Open Educational Resources (OER) and Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) for the rest of the day.

It will also be interesting to discover how UUM is approaching these 16 learning trends, especially OER and MOOCs. Insya-Allah, my 1-day workshop will enlighten participants and trigger new ideas at UUM on how to transform learning and education further.

THE WORKSHOP

This 1-day workshop will explore first 16 Learning Trends, before zooming in on Open Educational Resources (OER) and the latest disruptive global learning trend known as Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs). During the workshop participants will be empowered with tips and methods to find, reuse, remix and create OER. During the hands-on group session, participants will be challenged to conceptualize and create an imaginary MOOC prototype for 100,000+ students. It will be fun, challenging and competitive, and hopefully It will open your mind to a new enriched world of learning for all.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

After this workshop, you will be able to:
  • Discuss the benefits and challenges of  reusing/remixing/creating OER;
  • Select the appropriate Creative Commons license (6 types) for your content development needs;
  • Find OER using a variety of search tools;
  • Identify a variety of web 2.0 and Social Media tools to develop OER with;
  • Discuss the benefits and challenges of MOOCs;
  • Conceptualize a MOOC strategy for your course/programme/institution.
