I teach several courses on global health and have found this book to be very good. It is clear, organized, and to the point. It provides students with sufficient background about the major topics of interest in global health that they are able to engage in in-depth discussions in the classroom. Its particularly good for covering some of the drier information that an instructor doesnt necessarily need to go over in the classroom, which then leaves room for case studies and a more detailed presentation of a few select topics in the classroom.

This text is very informative. There are many explains regarding health, public health, and world health. Unfortunately, the amount of information provided in the text was very overwhelming. As the previous reviewer has stated, the pages are covered with a lot of text. I would discourage professors from using this text, unless they will solely focus their lectures on this.

The very worst introductory textbook that I have ever purchased or used for a course. This is certainly not a book for anyone not already in the health field of education. The book is very difficult to get through. I had to read the whole thing for an Intro to Global Health course and this book made the course absolute hell. I had been excited over the idea of learning about global health but this book made this my most hated course in my college career.

It has page after page full of text case studies, and very little setup/explanation up front for understanding. It is extremely dry reading and the test questions generated by the publishing corp are often on esoteric facts such as which country has the third largest program for vaccination for xyz, so you have to read every little tiny detail and statistic after statistic on every page.

It is absolutely overwhelming reading and if the course is an online course with no lecture, it is horrific. In all of the coursework Ive ever done, this is the worst textbook I ever experienced, hands down.
